Frequently Asked Questions

Pax Autocratica FAQ

Quick answers for the most common Pax Autocratica questions, including first steps, expeditions, soldiers, capture, co-op, performance, and known issues.

Getting Started

What should I do first in Pax Autocratica?

Stabilize the base, keep mining and manufacturing staffed, check the Leader's Agenda, then prepare a small squad for the first expedition.

Why does my colony stall early?

Most early stalls come from weak resource flow. Keep citizens assigned to mining, hauling, gathering, research, and production before expanding into more buildings.

When should I research the Tactical Bureau?

Research it early. It opens combat abilities, Core Fragment options, and movement upgrades that make both base traversal and expedition fights smoother.

Expeditions and Combat

Do expeditions have to end by conquering a sector?

No. You can use an expedition to gather resources, trade, capture enemies, collect Core Fragments, or scout before returning safely.

What happens if I lose during an expedition?

Your existing soldiers, blueprints, and previous progress are not wiped out. The main loss is a portion of resources collected during that expedition.

How do Enemy Strength and Expedition Progress work?

Exploring raises Enemy Strength, while completing battles raises Expedition Progress. At full progress, the final battle becomes available, but continuing can mean better rewards and harder fights.

Should I use melee attacks?

Use melee when the target is isolated or controlled. It can help sustain runs by restoring ammunition and improving access to healing or throwables.

Soldiers, Prisoners, and Recruiting

Should soldiers work when they are not fighting?

Yes. Assign them resource jobs so they return to useful work after temporary tasks instead of standing idle.

How do I get more soldiers or workers?

Capture is a major growth path. Bring Capture Rounds, look for valuable targets, then use prisoners to expand the regime.

Are elite enemies worth capturing?

Often, yes. Elite and Boss enemies may be more valuable because their enemy type and affixes can turn into stronger recruits.

Multiplayer and Early Access

Is Pax Autocratica multiplayer right now?

Treat the current game as single-player. Co-op is planned during Early Access, but players should not buy it today expecting active multiplayer.

Is Pax Autocratica worth playing in Early Access?

It is worth considering if you want a mix of colony management, political control, first-person squad combat, and roguelite expedition planning.

Known Issues

How should I handle performance drops or stutter?

Lower expensive visual settings, close background apps, compare after a restart, and note whether the slowdown happens in base, expedition, or after long sessions.

What can I do if buildings look invisible or missing?

Save, return to the main menu, reload, and take a screenshot before rebuilding or deleting anything. Record the building type and location.

What should I include in a bug report?

Include the symptom, location, steps to reproduce, hardware, settings, screenshots or clips, and whether it happened in the demo/prologue or Early Access build.

What if a save or menu behaves strangely?

Restart first, then check whether the issue affects one save or all saves. Back up save files before experimenting with fixes.
